Greenville McDonald's manager earns diploma through program

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A local McDonald's manager earned her high school diploma through the company's "Archways to Opportunity" program.

Family and friends gathered on September 28 to watch Maria Garcia earn her high school diploma. The Greenville manager is one of 5,000 McDonald's employees "Archways to Opportunity" program, which is designed to help them reach their academic goals.

Garcia said that she now hopes to attend college and become a chef, writer or photographer. There are 150 other employees enrolled in the program throughout eastern North Carolina.
